Personally I wouldn't worry to much, What about a quality truck wash?

Cheers

Is it really such a problem?  We bought ours with no red oxide on the running gear, and now since we've been using it, it has the signs of a well travelled camper ie. red tinges.

From memory "Grungle" had good success with Blitz by Chemtech.  Here's a link to the thread with a few solutions or suggestions.
