Stayed at Wilpena Pound campground a few weeks ago. After paying top dollar for a campsite you'd expect some nice clean modern facilities wouldn't ya?
Well I nearly died of laughter when I saw their BBQ facilities, and am wondering if anyone has seen worse. The $1 usage charge is the cherry on the cake. ;D

Wouldn't eat anything off that..... i have stayed at Wilpena too and think it is over-rated!
-
I was very happy with Rawnsley Park when we went thru last time.
-
Trust me, no council worker uses the outdoor BBQs in parks and picnic areas, after seeing what people do on them, you wouldn't either >:D
You have been warned,
Baz.

That's why a Teflon sheet is worth it weight in gold. I try not to eat of any of the public BBQ's unless I am really desperate. I even have one at work as the lazy buggers wouldn't know how to clean a hotplate.

Absolutely!! I bought a couple of those at the Redcliffe markets and they are brilliant. Especially good for keeping the greeblies off your food.

I only eat of my bbq with its stainless steel plate. Wouldn't eat of one in a park...yuk! Phil

Hi,
we stayed at Wilpena. Can't say I noticed much about it - didn't want to stay there but wanted to do the walks so there was not much option.
We stayed in the unpowered section, and charged the battery using a power point in one of the big communal kitchens, hiding the gear under a bench.
My vote for the worst camp ground would go to the Nullarbor Road House, a dusty fenced off bit of carpark with a generator roaring all night. Not that we stayed there, found a much nicer spot in amongst the gravel borrow pits about 1km away.
cheers

Caravan park in Marree is extremely average...

Not that bad if you like a fire and a roast dinner. We had a few good days there. I admit, it isn't the best but the hospitality was great when we were there. Ended up helping out and had a few days in a donga... Luxury lad, sheer luxury ;D

X eleventy, it was the worst place that we stayed at during our whole Oodnadatta Track trip last year. The mozzies were like carpet on the walls of the ablution block, we waited until Arkaroola the next day before we had a shower and all we could smell was the septic, they must had us set up on top of it?
SWMBO and I made an agreement that when we are ever heading up that way, we will never stay at that place ever again.

But seeing as a fair few others are coming, I'll let them comment before saying too much. !!!
But I haven't seen relentless strong wind like this before....you South Africans must be a hardy lot. ????? ;D

I'd forgot that... the bugs in the dunnys were amazing... Wasnt much point tryin to have a shower, you were coated again in dead bugs by the time you dried off. Most of the chicks on the trip near on refused to even go for a squirt there.
but since found a top free camping spot on way to the lake that I'd stay at next time.

We had a similar experience there also, didn't seem that bad, been at worse.
Mogo caravan Park has got to be the worst I've stayed at, no 4B then, was doing an APEX ride in Mogo SF, should have slept in the car >:D
Worst for service, Birdsville caravan Park, when the sheila from ExplorOz and her husband were running the joint, her husband has got to be the rudist bastard I've ever met.
People were driving in and he was telling them to f#ck off, some even had small children in the car, did he care, no, go and a camp in the dunes for all I care, nice bloke >:D >:D
