Title: R51 Lift Kit
Post by: Big Nath on September 27, 2011, 10:35:32 AM
Hi has any one got a lift kit under their R51 Pathfinder?

I have spotted a few on PCoA but was curious amongst the camper towing community.

I look forward to your answers and photos!

Cheers

When I had the R51, I had lifted it 2" with the TJM gear.
Very happy with it. I had also polyairs in the back coils.

Just like Wilsurf when I had my R51 had a 2' top dog lift, poly airbags, long range tank and rear wheel carrier.I towed the camper around the block earlier this year with no troubles apart from a far from impressive fuel consumption,on average16.7/100 with camper & 13.2 without.New PK Ranger space cab 8.9/100 and I love it.

Like Wilsurf, I've found the airbags to be key. Granted we've got the older R50 Pathy, but the airbags are what lets you have nice suspension around town, but firm it up and level out the car when towing.

FWIW, we run a full Pedders 2" kit (inc the much-maligned Foam-cell big-bore shocks), and are VERY happy with it all. Airbags are 2" extended AirLift bags direct from Truckspring.com in the States.

Good luck!
Matto :)

The R51 were fitted with a DPF after 2008 which affected the fuel consumption a lot.
Yours doesn't have this system and is therefore sippier.

When I had the R51 2006 TI Diesel, had a 2" Lift, OME Nitro Sport, shocks and Polyairs fitted, towed 2007 Jayco Swan Outback, No problems whatso ever

Towed the Jayco across the Hay Plain at 110 and got 11.2, also had a Stienbauer chip on it

Yea mine was one of the first fitted with the DPF and it really made a mess of the fuel figures.

I'm on PCOA so you may have seen my setup. If you haven't, am running the OME Nitro sport kit with 2" lift like CRW. Also have the Poly airs. Great setup & can't fault it. Currently tow a Complete Campsite trailer & with the airbags slightly inflated, have found there is no sag in the rear end. Only have the medium springs all round as only have a nudge bar & not running around with too much weight in the back unless towing

Yeah I have seen your set up pete. Are you running bigger tyres? You have commented on a few of my posts on pcoa.
