Title: I think I am in love!
Post by: DannyG on September 26, 2011, 12:55:04 PM
I love the bush. I love the beach. I love the outback. I love being out amongst it camping.

I get excited like a little kid even when I have just a weekend planned to get out doors in the bush.

It doesn't matter if its in the swag, of its in the roof top or the tent or the caravan.

I don't know if it is sitting around the fire, the food, the relaxing, the surroundings or what it is but I have a constant urge to be out there.

I don't think it is the relaxing because I have ants in my pants and I enjoy constantly doing things.

I love getting to a location and setting up camp. I love everything being organised and in its place ready to go.

I love collecting wood and getting the fire going. I love a big warm fire.

I love a drink or two when Im camping. I probably start drinking to early when Im camping but I dont mind being tired and sleeping in the tent/swag or whatever.

I love the early starts, the full days.

I don't generally cook at home but I love to do all the cooking when camping.

I love roasts in the camp oven, I love warm damper and lots of butter as a late night snack.

I love listening to my music in the bush. I love country, I love 80's rock, it all sounds so much better in the bush.

I love being in remote private locations. I equally love being around friends in those locations.

I love having hot water and showering in the bush, it is so much more refreshing than home.

I love seeing the kids enjoying it as much as I do.

I love throwing a line in the water, we rarely catch anything but we love doing it anyway.

We love jumping in the Patrol and exploring yet another bush track. We love it when we get stuck and have to winch ourselves out!

I love the feeling of the unknown. I love looking at a hill or a river crossing or step up or whatever it may be and wondering If I can do it.

I love the anticipation of watching others struggle and wondering how I'm going to go. I love if I complete it, I equally love it if I have to self recover.

I'm sitting here about to get ready to go to work but I have this constant urge, this constant desire, butterflies in my belly like a teenager in love. I just need and want to be out living the camping lifestyle.

I wish I could afford to retire now.

Anyway just thought Id express myself on here, I feel a bit better now. I think I need help!

I wish I had a job that required me to be out doing it full time, but I don't :(

I love your thoughts.   I agree totally.  And to think, there are lots of people out there who just do not get it, who have not been lucky enough to experience what you have just described. I do feel sorry for them, but very happy they stay at home, after all, it is starting to get a bit crowded as it is!   ;D   Kevin

That's bloody great Danny, I feel the same way as probably most of us here do. Nothing beats being in the bush with a camp fire and great company!

I love the bush. I love the beach. I love the outback. I love being out amongst it camping.

I love that a man can express himself so well!   >:D

I love that others have the same feelings for it as I do.

Camping makes you feel alive!  I believe it's because "work and the day to day drudgery that is LIFE", makes you feel so regemented ... so lacking in freedom ... so negative ...

But the bush or the beach ... the fire ... the bed under canvas ... doesn't care what you do or how you do it ... as long as you do do it.

Very well said. Even when at home I am constantly thinking about being out there. I go out the back and light up the Brazier and the girls and I sit around and toast marshmellows. Really good times.  ;D

There is either alot of loving on this thread or alot of People smoking of the wacky tobaccy, either way this thread certainly has alot of free swag loving getting around.

Yep i agree with all you have stated Danny G, also what others have said................ i've said before to my Mrs and kids, when we are out bush especially in the red dirt country (up the cape/western Qld) that i could just lay down on the ground and roll around in it....  ???......... they think i'm mad, but at the same time i think they get it!

LOL Its nice to know I dont need help and there are others who feel the same way.

If I'm not in the garage tinkering with 'another camping mod' or organising gear I'm reading a magazine article or browsing forums such as this all of which just makes the urge and desire stronger!!

I have friends who 'like' to go camping as well. However if it is forecast the slightest chance off rain they wont go.

Not me!! Don't get me wrong I much prefer nice weather (who wouldn't) but even if there is rain I can still sit under an annex and take in the serenity and watch the world go by without a care.

I have big decisions to make all the time about upsetting people so I can feed my addiction.

Take this weekend for example.....AFL grand final day.....pretty big down here in Tassie and it is tradition that my Mate has a 'do' at his house for grand final and I have a 'do' at my house for Bathurst every year.

Problem is this weekend we are lucky enough to have no kids at home so the urge to throw the rooftop tent on the Patrol and hit the bush tracks, go camping, maybe a spot of trout fishing, perhaps stop in at a pub somewhere to watch the grand final is overwhelming me!!  LOL

Do I upset my mate and break a very long tradition and not go to his 'do' because I selfishly want to feed my camping addiction or do I do the right thing??

Please help!! My name is Danny and I have a camp fire addiction ;)

Danny, invite you mate to go camping with you to watch the final out in the bush.
When he knocks you back, go camping anyway. There will be another grand final next year.
