Title: Currawong Camping
Post by: Vince on September 26, 2011, 10:50:04 AM
Had a three day wekend coming up so we decided to spend it camping at Currawong Camp Ground in the Chichester SF.

To get there...From Dungog head towards Chichester dam on the sealed road - turn off where signposted onto the gravel forest road and head to Telegherry camp ground
(go thru this to the end) cross the creek (not 4wd access only) and you are there. It's all well sign posted

Camper trailers and off-road vans can access this spot easily.

The river runs next to the camping area and is good for kids as well.

NO motorbikes allowed!!

It's a nice part of the country around there.

Yorkie, not sure if you have been up there before, but there is a little bit of info on a few things to see and do when you're there from a trip we did in the same area a while back.

x2. Watch for leeches near the spot where the lady is in one of Vince's photos. I prefer to camp away from the trees.

If you cross the creek above Jerusalem Falls and follow the track around you will find a challenging bit of 4WDing, but I'm not sure if that track is still open.  Very muddy deep holes with very slippery clay slopes etc..  Otherwise there are numerous off shoot tracks off the main roads around there, which offer a bit of challenge.
