Title: Small Jack Daniels and Cola cans.
Post by: Gunna Do on September 25, 2011, 04:48:13 PM
Bought a 24 can cube of Jack Daniels and Cola to take away for the Barrington trip, and thought I was getting it for a pretty good price (well reasonable anyway).  When Penny pulled the first one out of the fridge and commented on the size, I noticed that they were only 330ml cans.

How long have they been doing this?  Maybe I've had my head in the sand.

LOL!  Don't you know they (all of them) have been downsizing product size for ages ... yet charging the same prices ... apparently for our own good (read:  they're profits) ... aren't we all as fat as now?

Easier to buy a block of Coke & a 700ml bottle of snake bite. Take a swig out of the can & refill with firewater. Best 2stroke you will drink. (hic)

I only buy the premixed stuff to make it easier on SWMBO. ;D ;D ;D

Make Your Own. Barnray

We normally have a pretty good supply of home brewed bourbon from Penny's Pop, but we haven't been to visit for a bit too long now and have run out of stock.  A milk crate full of bourbon bottles goes a long way.

Costco do that trick with their soft drinks & you think you are getting a good price until you notice they are 330ml cans

i prefer to take away pre-mixes when i go camping, but drink make ya owns when I'm home

as pre-mixes i prefer to drink from Glass but since they cost at least a $1 more per drink and they are only 330ml compared to 375ml cans i slum it.

Not into JD but the Cougar cans i took away with me this weekend are still 375ml

I'm always baffled why more dont do this.. Yes it doesnt look as trendy to keep pullin out cans, but where is the line!

I got quoted $80 for a carton of Smirnoff cans the other night, or $40 for a bottle and $4 for mixer.

They'd know it wasn't soft-drink if it was in your Myswag cooler.   ;D ;D

Since they realised JD drinkers couldn't handle a man sized drink ...  ;D

What I wish someone would come up with is a 375ml glass with lines on it so you know when to stop the sprit and mixer. My scotch just gets stronger and stronger every time i fill up. I only ever buy pre mixed when I only want one. I don't like the scotch premix but I do like the wild turkey ones.

Stronger each time? I fail to see the problem

Nah I would like it in one glass. just fill to this line with spirt and then this line with dry. and then add ice if you like. I etched a schooner glass a while ago with a grinder and it was ok but a more defined line would be great. I can only just see the line I etched and at night it can be hard to find.

thanks for the find. I wonder if I could put some of those auto measures up on a pole in the camper. ;D

Standard 7oz glass, ice to cover base of glass one layer thick.
Take JD or viable alternative, invert bottle and cover ice, fill to normal level with coke/ air / whatever.

Enjoy.
In fact I am now.

My guess is that 375ml cans will, in time be fazed out.  In Asia most all of their cans of drink etc are 330ml and I reckon we will follow suit.  Bottled beer has also been getting smaller over time.

In retail generally they are reducing sizes to give them impression that prices are not rising, for example some brands now sell rice in 750g  containers instead of 1kg at the same price and people generally don't notice the difference.

We generally buy coke and have a bottle of rum in the trailer...

Early in my drinking career I went out withe a mate and respective girlfriends.
He was drinking Beam and I was into the Bundaberg OP rum.
At the end of the night I was the one driving the porcelain bus.

No more rum for this black duck :-[

Premix is for teenage girls... >:D Let their eager boyfriends pay the alcopop tax, I'll MMO thanks.

As for rum drinkers, ever noticed how they crack the first one about 9.00 am? Suppose if you stay pi$$ed you won't notice the taste.

Cheers,

Cam and Coke.

Yep I think you are right. Most bottled beer is 330ml these days...why don't they just skip the middle bit and go back to twist-tops (throwdowns), I'm sure the tooling is still sitting in a backroom somewhere at ACI...

I only buy 375ml, which mostly means Boags or Coopers, and New or VB every now and then to keep the citizenship up to date :)
