Looks like we are going to have to wait until Dec/Jan for Sydney's first store

I still go to our local small hardware store.  I hate going to Bunnings. I find they are not that cheap and it is very hard to talk to someone who knows much about anything.  I did go there a few months back to buy some rubber matting off a roll. I wanted a 60 cm length and the sales person said I would have to buy either a half a metre or a metre length. They could not cut 60 cm as the computer could not calculate the cost for 60 cm?  ???   The roll was 3 metres wide, so I would have had to waste a lot and pay a lot more if I bought a metre! I did not buy any.  :P
And remember, Bunnings and Masters are mainly owned by the two big supermarket companies, and like the fuel debate, once they force the smaller hardware stores out, we will all pay extra in the end. Just my two cents worth. (Not that you can buy much for two cents!)  Kevin

I agree whole heartedly... Finding anyone at bunnings that *ReALLY* knows what they are selling is impossible. Its like Jaycar, and nearly everywhere now, full of cheap chinese Shit.

I miss the old quality small/corner hardware with real trademen or people who have actually built stuff working in there that could help you out with your project.

Masters will just be another place full of people on minimum wage that dont really give a Shit, and have even less idea on "hardware"...

But this is the price we are paying for demanding cheaper and cheaper... something has to give.
