Anybody else annoyed with the disgraceful coverage of the Rugby Union World Cup? I refuse to pay for crap (pay-TV....Fox etc).

Really? You're surprised that Ch9's coverage is poor?

3 dedicated sports channels in HD is hardly crap. World Cup without commercials in game time, HD and with commentators who know the game ... I'm happy to pay the money!

I agree, Channel 9s coverage of the RWC is pathetic. the commentary is below standard and the scheduling of the non-Aussie games is impossible.

By chance, a bloke turned up at our door last week, offering Foxtel at a discount of $99 for two months, so I jumped on it.

That said, I cancelled Foxtel 10 years ago because there was plenty of channels of nothing, and that still seems to be the case.We won't be extending our subscription.

Rugby is the thinking mans game, and Rugby league is the blue collar game.

I love league because it's a faster game without so many stops in play.

At the end of the day however they both feature forwards who aren't real bright but they can lift heavy things.

Dad is a off work at present (having surgery) so to stop him driving the whole family crazy we are having foxtel hooked up.

$50.00 per month so $600 for the year , inc install. for a heap of chanels plus the sports pack thrown in as well.

I think it's a great deal and he cant wait it goes in on monday.

Jetcrew  ;D

I agree that free to air coverage of sport is on the decline.

I had to get foxtel because of all the sport on free to air. I would rather sit in a refrigerator and flick my testicles than watch sport on TV, scrape by eyes out with a HIV infected spoon.

Ladies beach volley ball goes alright. (one exception).  8)

It is a tactical game where you only need to understand that one man is trying to push two mens heads up three mens a******es.

Why anyone would pay money to watch a group of supposedly men chase a bag of wind up and down a paddock is beyond comprehension , whats more is its billed as the "World Cup" when 98% of the worlds countries do not participate.

Funny that.  We have Austar and the only free to air that we ever see is sbs or abc.

Discovery channel, history channel, sport, lifestyle, Aurora.

Heres some of whats on austar atm;

Series link to record what you want and watch later.

Dont think I could ever go back.

Oh, and no Eddie, no Karl or Koshi.....bloody brilliant.

OK the tribe has spoken and I must accept that I am a tightar$e whinger :-[, who believes the ARU had their eye off the ball when they allowed the channel nine stooges get the contract to televise the event.

No, I am with you. I have relented and picked up Foxtel so I can watch it. I was just looking and see Ch9 is not even playing tonight's game live. They're showing the rugby league semi's instead, and the rugby on delay. That is a disgrace. They have two other digital channels they could use for either code.

League vs union... League will always win hands down with the ratings

This argument will never be won.  Toyota/ Nissan.    Waeco/Engel.    League / Union/ cross country ballet.  All the same.

I don't know what you guys are complaining about.  Cricket and AFL are the opnly two sports in town (well maybe womens beach volleyball Dan).  The rest of the crap on TV is - well - crap.  And why the hell would you want to pay EXTRA to watch so much crap.  Don't you have a 4WD and camper trailer? $600 (a year) will get me around 3000kms and I reckon that 3000kms would be so much more fun and enjoying than PAYING extra for crap!  But thats just me...

Cheers

Apologies for my earlier rant bagging Channel 9. Obviously they got it right again! St Locky does it for the Broncos. I bow my head in sincere and repentant shame! How could I be such a tool?

Still ... the ARU has to take some of the blame. Selling the coverage rights to the highest bidder knowing that Ch9 would prioritise it behind it's own coverage of ARL.
It's not doing ARU any favours with a  potential new audience not being able to watch games live or in some cases not being able to watch their team at all!
Once the ARL finals are done ... hopefully 9 will give the RWC priority.

I don't give a stuff about the coverage, but Australia losing to Ireland, that pisses me off >:D

Ireland out played Australia in every aspect of the game and made Quade Cooper look like a rookie >:D >:D

Very annoyed, Baz.

Couldn't agree more ... Deans needs to outlaw chip-kicks and behind the back flick passes from Quade Cooper!

I have heard (not verified but easy to do, I'm just too busy gloating over England's win and Australia's loss), that Channel 9 own some of Foxtel.   ???

So those that say pah to C9 because of their Shite coverage and hello $600 a year for Foxtel are exactly the kind of customer C9 wants to 'put off' their World Cup coverage. >:(

I went down to the local rugby club yesterday to watch a live game with 'er indoors and am off to my mate's next weekend for free Foxtel.   Best of both worlds!

I thought it was Murdoch that owned fuxtel.. thus why when Lachlan got incharge of Ch10, he went "NO MORE AFL NEXT YEAR - GO TO DADDYS PAY TV IF YOU WANT IT"...
???

Foxtel is owned by Telstra 50%, New's Corporation (Murdoch) 25% and Consolidated Media 25%.

Consolidated Media (CMH) also owns 50% of Fox Sports.
However CMH used to own 50% of PBL Media (which included Ch9) CMH now only owns around 1% of PBL Media after Packer sold everything off to pay for his Casino building empire.

So there's not a very big link now between Ch9 and Foxtel.

I'm just sayin'
