1. some of those folding bedside LED lights that are on a long flexible stalk, thay are so cool
2. does any one at all make a generic bump stop that I can bolt up between the axle (45mm square) and the U bolts?
Yes I could make something but atm rather just buy it

Maybe you could try the wreckers for a bump stop, there would be plenty of cars or commercials that would be good doners.

Do a quick E-bay search for bump stops and you'll find a heap of different options, or else head down to the wreckers and see what you can find to suit. http://shop.ebay.com.au/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m570.l1311&_nkw=bump+stops&_sacat=See-All-Categories (http://shop.ebay.com.au/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m570.l1311&_nkw=bump+stops&_sacat=See-All-Categories)
For the flexible reading lamps, try Whitworths Marine, they sell a couple of different styles.

yeh..... you're right Lost
I made quite a few calls around the place and googled the crap out of my PC, no good
I know it's uncommon for a leaf sprung CT but I really want bump stops for peace of mind and save the springs and bearings
time to see uncle fester at minden and get something to cobble up
The lights are a bonus but we like to read in bed and it'd be nice to have
any help muchly appreciated

Thanks Gunna Do, we're sold on thise lights and might follow up on the Chevy bump stops, they look like they might do

Our camper ( on coils ) came with 80 series landcruiser bump stops as standard fitment, might be of some help as there would be hundreds of them at the wreckers.
Hope it helps,
Cheers

What about these bump stops ? Brand new urethane $30 and we all know red goes faster too. Or would you prefer rubber.

I was actually looking for the same thing recently and couldn't find anything for a reasonable price and exactly what I wanted.
What I want is a couple of lights that can be mounted on the bed base and when then camper is closed up, the simple lay flat. To do this they need the right mount as well as enough length. I couldn't find anything so I contacted a few manufacturers in China. In the end I had other things on so didn't follow through with the type of lights I wanted and length.
So if anyone's interested, I could follow this up.
This is the style of the light. The lights head twists for the switch and would minimise the chances of them being accidentally turned on. That and easy to find when in bed. I thought the pole should be about 900mm to give enough height and flexibility for positioning.

And this is the mount I thought would be best so the light would lay flat when camper closed.

From memory, if 8 were ordered it worked out to be approximately $30 each.

Make sure the quality of the flexible stem is good, otherwise you will have problems keeping the light in position. I bought a cheaper flexible light from an E-bay seller and the quality was less than good. Had it replaced when the bulb melted the plastic surround, and haven't been game to fit it in the camper again.
Hella make a good one, but it costs about $130.00. It will be the one I'll buy when the time comes.
