Title: Doing our homework for the purchase of a new CT
Post by: loshde on September 13, 2011, 08:53:09 AM
Hi All

We are in the tedious process of trying to work out what we want for a CT.  We want an Aussie Swag, but that's just not going to happen, so we are looking at buying a very basic camper and building it up from there.  It is exciting to see what's out there but also frustrating at times and sooo time consuming.  We just want to try to get it right so spending the time will (hopefully) payoff with luck.  We are trying to look at setting up as best we can, similar to the Aussie Swag.

This site has been invaluble for information as people are just so willing to share their experiences.  Looking forward to seeing more.

Cheers
Loshde

I know your frustration, I looked for about 6 months before finding what suited me and the budget, welcome aboard and there is plenty of info here.

G'day & Welcome.

Why not the Aussie Swag? Budget I'm guessing. There are plenty of great campers, new and second hand, for less money.

Do you need a hard floor? How many people will be sleeping in it? what sort of camping do you like to do?

Loshde,

Welcome to My Swag and good luck finding a CT. If u are looking at an Aussie Swag, there was one for sale on RVPoint in Banana, Qld (not sure where u are) for $6,500 neg.

It was from memory a 1993 model but in really good condition.

Cheers Balfang

Hi all

Thanks for the welcome.  You're right, there is so much great info on this site.  It's been a real find, finding this site.
Bigjules - You're right, not getting a new Aussie Swag due to budget.  Bear in mind if I win lotto I will be on their doorstep the following day.  We are chasing a hard floor as I just don't want the drama of putting up a soft top all the time.  We have tented for years and after borrowing a hard floor many many moons ago we (I) have decided that we just want to be able to flip out the top at a pinch and have a bed ready to go.  No kids at home anymore, so just wanting some more home comforts I guess.  Can't wait.
Lost and balfang - I will check out ebay, thanks for the info.  The 1993 Aussie Swag is just too old for what we want.  Just being fussy I'm afraid and hoping it will pay off in the long run.  I will check it out though.  Banana is only a few hours drive from where we lived for almost 30 years.  We are now down near Kiama in NSW, but are looking at heading back home in the near future we think.  We miss home.
Thanks all
Cheers  Loshde
