After reading through rodw's latest instalment on he and his wifes saga through Outback Qld http://myswag.org/forum/index.php?topic=15128.0, I think it would be terrific if we as a forum of like minded individuals were to reward this kind of outstanding display of never say die attitude.
Besides, it is great reading of other peoples struggles and triumph over adversity because next time it happens to us, we might just take heart from this type of character. It would probably also encourage people to continue posting what I consider very useful info.
If Rod reads this, he has my vote for sticking it out and continuing, well actually taking advantage of his troubles and extending, their holiday.
I think opening this up to discussion might lead to some fun around the campfires at State and National gatherings.
Maybe a small prize or perhaps a trophy that must be carried and displayed at gatherings.
I would be happy to contribute a cash donation to this trophy/prize or even to organise the prize and voting poll if the Administrators are willing.
I don't think it needs to be huge, just a way of saying Thanks and stick to your guns.
Thoughts anyone?

Draggin, I just found this post and we are pretty humbled by your idea and that we inspired you and others with our story. I'll be interested to see what develops in the other awards thread. I am sure there are other members equally as worthy and I am only a new member.
Maybe it took a bit of courage to share our dramas publicly. The support from this forum early in our trip certainly surprised us and certainly helped us continue on our way and gave us a shot in the arm when we needed it.
I guess that we learnt that despite how well prepared you are, things can and do go wrong. Provided nobody gets hurt, mechanical issues don't have to stop you from having a good time and sitting in strange town with nothing to do does not mean you can't have fun and continue to enjoy the holiday mood. I think one thing in our favour was not having a detailed itinerary stretching weeks into the future. Instead we had an understanding of the key legs where we had to ensure we had adequate food fuel and water on board and winged it the rest of the time.
