Hey guys,
I’ve been floating around the 4WDaction and LCOOL forum for a couple of years and built up a few trucks over the time. Our current rig is a highly modified HDJ105 cruiser which drag’s about our Trackabout Safari camper.
The cruiser has a highly modified engine which is a hybrid of parts from the 1HZ and 1HD-T engines, in its current state of tune we get 158hp at the wheels. Boost is around 16psi, post turbo EGT’s don’t see over 480 deg C and the fuel economy isn’t great, buts its not bad, on average we wnd up around 15-16lts/100km. A full build up thread can be found here.... http://www.4wdaction.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=74836
We’ve had our camper for a couple of years as well. Its a 1999 make Trackabout Safari. We brought it second hand and basically did a full rebuild! The canvas was in good condition, and the trailer was solid but needed some TLC.
How we saw it at the shop

And put a new axle and springs under it with 10 inch electric brakes, 7 leaf ALKO rebound springs, and 3tn rated bearings

From there we just dragged it up and down around northern NSW and SE QLD

Love the fact you're keeping an older Tracky alive. Well Done. Just goes to show, you don't need the latest, most expensive gear to camp well.
Congrats!
