Title: Anyone got an Evakool from Australian Direct with a Digital Thermostat upgrade?

Hi,

I am considering upgrading the thermostat on my ED50 Evakool fridge to a digital thermostat such used by Australian Direct.

By looking at Australian Direct's web site it appears that they are using a Carel brand thermostat. Reading the Carel web site these sound complicated to set up.

My questions are...

Are these thermostats easy to use?

Do they have to be completely reprogrammed every time they are unplugged / replugged from 12v? (ie or do they have a back-up battery or do the factory default settings not need adjusting so it doesn't matter if your 'custom' settings are lost).

Digital thermostat I suspect is used by Australian Direct on the Carel website;

I have the 82L Evakool fridge with the electronic thermostat, it came standard with my Quantum. It works a treat, once you set the target temp it stays the same even when you turn the fridge on/off. Its pretty much a set and forget thing, good to see the actual freezer temp as thats whats always displayed (not the target temp, need to push a few buttons for that).

I just rechecked this old thread an noticed that I never acknowledged your response (how rude of me... sorry  :-[).

I have bought the upgrade kit but haven't had a chance to instal it yet.
