Title: Cable tie base
Post by: darren on July 22, 2011, 08:30:24 PM
Hello masses
I need some help. In the past i have used a metal cable tie base that you glued down with sikaflex. It had a pad on the bottom that had heaps of little holes in it to allow the adhesive to key to. I cant find them for the life of me. If anyone has used them or know where to get them i would be very grateful
Thanks
Darren

I know the type you mean Darren. Lately, all I have seen are the plastic sticky backed ones. I'll keep my eyes open for the metal type & who has them.

I have to use them around the inside of the gulwing box, The std adhesive ones dont do a very good job. I am looking for somthing a bit stronger.

Would be fiddley, but could you use a spot of Sikaflex on the base of the plastic type after removing the sticky back?? PITA I know, but if you only have a handful to do it might be worth it ?? Juz a thought.

Darren, I used the plastic ones under my gullwing and they have hung on well so far...depends a lot on brand , re, how good the adhesive is..

I have also used P clamps a bit as well ( they use them on trains etc)  think they are made by Panduit....stainless and are silaflexed on..

Used to use them a lot in food manufacturing installations, because the plastic ones can't be picked up if they fall into the product - and someone will eat one  :-[
