I know this may be a long shot but I am looking for a powered campsite (not caravan park) within 2 hours from Melbourne that allows camp fires.
Any ideas?

Mate thats not going to happen unless you take your own power ect Geni
there are C/Parks around that will let you have a fire in a provided fire tin

Thanks Brett,
I thought I'd try my luck as I recall seeing something like what I'm looking for in tathra, nsw.
I have a geni but thought If I could get power. It may make it a bit easier with my 3&4 y.o.
Is it the powered campsite that I'll struggle finding or is it the additional hope of finding it with a fire?

Hi Marcel,
We often go to the Walkerville Camping reserve which might be about two and a half hours from Melbourne...we live near Wonthaggi and it takes us about an hour. You can have powered sites, campfires in drums that you hire from the park and they have clean ameneties blocks for hot showers :cup:
It is a beach front park and nice and quiet during the winter months, it faces hortheast so you are sheltered from the winter blows. In summer it is packed and you can't have campfires >:( The sites are set in the costal bush and are reasonably private outside of peak times. We love going there for a quick weekend getaway. :cup: :cup: :cup:

That's a good find Pat, thanks!

Pat,
That's Gold!
I'll just have to convince my travelling companion that 2.5 hours isnt that far..... not for power & fire!!
Cheers,

What about Doons reserve, Yarra Junction. Haven't been for awhile but was always a great little spot, right beside the little Yarra.

genuine question, how can you have a powered site in the bush? Never seen such a thing and would expect people to be living there with free sparks if there was...

i was probably more referring to powered camp grounds that are not "in the bush" but more in a quiet locale that aren't a caravan park.
I went to Point Leo a little while ago andf remembered that whilst not a caravan park, did offer some powered sites. As Point Leo is not all that far from melbourne, i figure it attracts the masses. I was hoping to fond something similiar (albeit a little further away) where crowds, even in winter wouldn't be an issue.
