Hi Guys
I thought I would post up a few pics and words about a little getaway last March
We normally go to the Murray that time of year but because of the floods and those bittie things we thought we would give the C/Park ago
Its called the Breakaway C/Park Between Acheron and Alexandra about 1 1/2 hours from Melb
They have powered and unpowered sites right on the waters edge
Fires aloud in fire drums provided you can buy wood there or BYO like we did
Nice little spot close to home

shhhh Breakaway is fantastic, my Uncle used to have an on-site van next to the boat ramp. There's some great trout fishing to be had around there if you know where to look :)

Must of been a big night because none of us remember where it was
-
This is a shot from my brother-in-laws place just behind Stonelea a couple of klms from the Breakaway. He had 100 acres which he sold last year. The shot was taken on the Monday after Black Saturday when we went to help clean up. The mountain range you can see covered in smoke in the distance is the Cathedral ranges, it was actually still on fire.

Have been going to this C/P for the past 3 cup weekends, book the same riverfront sites as we leave, great park and great owners. 4 sites, 10 people.

No probs Bretto i will be there

You'll find they're all busy on cup weekend as it is usually the open of the trout fishing season. Blue gums is also one to checkout.

Hey D4D
I will make some phone calls and see how booked out they are
-
September/October actually suits us better

Nice looking place, And a great setup camper. Do you have a door on the drawbar side of the tent to allow those in the tent access through?
-
Hi Brett
on the cup weekend there are sometimes 1 or 2 sites left, but not on the riverfront. If your thinking of that w/e, I'd try and book now, lots of luck.

Yes Singo there is a door on that side and all the canvas walls and floor
sometimes I could not be bothered and the boys set the own tent up

HeyD4D
Look how dry the grass is in that pic
-
Breakaway would have to be the best cp in the area.. I have been there several times, but never stayed a night..
Blue gums would be good to and so would eildon waters if u have a permanent van.
I only live about 10 mins away from breakaway and 15 from blue gums.
So if ever break down let me know..

;D
