What is the best gas water heater to take on the road I wasnt going to buy one but the wife says we need one so one we will get so can you members come up with the best brand it must be able to run a shower. In the past we have boiled a tin on the fire but no longer as it seems that people dont like fires in the open anymore and a week without a wash is no longer allowed so I cant win, the rule is a shower every day from now on if we want to go on the road together and I really need a cook.

Coleman (green) has been good for us

Hi,
If you are used to boiling water in a tin, and can no longer use a fire, have you considered replacing the fire with a (say) Coleman dual fuel stove.
It seems to heat a large billy of water faster than I can heat it with gas, and has the advantage that you know how much fuel you have / use.
You can go high tech and use a battery powered pump from the billy if you want.
The stove/billy has multiple other uses, whereas a dedicated gas water heater is some what limited in its capability to multi-task.

x2 for Coleman Hot Water on demand. But chuck the container that comes with it and use one of those white plastic buckets with lids. We drilled a hole in the lid and fed the pump through it.

has to the Coleman, ours gets used for heating water for the dishes as well as shower water,
we always used boiled water for the cuppas and water thru the unit wont take long to boil on the fire or stove
however if it is really cold weather run some warmish water thru it to get some even "hotter" water,
run water thru it that is to hot and the unit will shut down,
do a search on this site for some older threads and I think your search will be narrowed
cheers
