Just wondering what other people`s opinions are of the new street view cameras on Google Earth which have replaced the yellow cameras. I used to love being able to follow a road and check out a camping area or places of interest, however the street view cameras don`t allow you to do this.
I mightn`t be using it right, but I`ve tried to access places I`d previously looked at without success. A couple of days ago street view wouldn`t work at all and research showed Google was having problems in Japan and Australia, however it is working now. I don`t think it`s as good as the cameras were. What do others think?
Cheers, Robyn.

I havn't noticed any difference. I still find it funny that Google took the photo at my young blokes school at 3.00 and there is a lovely photo of my wife talking to one of our friends.

I find the new street view very hard to use, I also used to look at roads and find it frustrating that this is not available now >:( I wish that I hadn't updated it >:( >:(

Trish,
I downloaded 5.2 which was the one I had previously, but the cameras are no longer on there. So much for progress!

I have version 6 and the street view is actioned by the pegman in the top right corner of the map, if you cant see it then read this

You can now zoom along the roads and the image seems clearer, takes a bit of getting used to.

Hi Areyonga,
Thanks for the info. we do have version 6 and it`s working, however I think it`s a backward step when a large number of camping areas, especially National parks which were previously accessible with the cameras don`t come up on street view.
We`ve always found it handy to be able check out camping spots, especially where there are bollards. Now the street view stops well before the entrance to most National Parks.
Cheers, Robyn.

It was most likely in obeyance of National Parks & Wildlife not allowing google to photograph in the national parks.

Funny thing last night husband was googling/street viewing the 'no right turn' street next to his work, and street view had captured a black navara doing an illegal right turn. He mentioned that people werent happy, cause a lot of people were being caught on camera doing illegal/silly thing hehehe
