Hi guys
4WD26 (Selwyn) pointed me to this forum to pick up some ideas about how to set up my van and I have spent some time reading.
I apologise in advance as we might actually be imposters on this forum because after watching a few mates set up their campervans, I decided to go with an Oz Tent but in December we purchased a Coromal poptop so we actually skipped the campervan step. Hope you don't mind and hopefully the poptop nearly qualifies....

Our tug is pretty well set up too, a 2007 Hilux which featured in a 4WD Action magazine trip last year.

But these days the hard core stuff is behind us and we are more interested in touring with our van and are planning to loop though outback QLD in a month or so which we are frantically getting ready for.
Now I gotta drop in on the coffee thread and say g'day there cos we like our coffee too!

Geez, guys, thanks for the warm welcome. I always forget to turn email notifications on when I join a new forum. I think I fixed it now.
Wish I could say the same for the Hilux, It has a custom made 110 litre stainless steel water tank in it that has sprung a leak twice now. Anyway, I think I have fixed it now. I pulled it out last weekend which is a major job as my home made drawers have to come right out. I dropped the tank off at Rhino Liners and they have sprayed on a good thick layer of Rhino Lining all over it during the week. I picked it up today. Their lining is rated safe for potable water so it will be fixed for good now. They tell me they spray a lot of stainless tanks that have sprung a leak. and I thought it was a really clever idea. Absolutely not looking forward to re-assembling it again over the weekend. I have leant the hard way that stainless is brittle and is not good for water tanks on 4WD's due to constant flexing.
Oops better be careful on an intro thread, better keep the tech stuff for other forums....

Thanks, Sounds lie we share the same engine... I have been stressing a bit about how it will stand up to the roads we have in mind as we are new to caravans but have decided it'll be OK after a lot of forum reading about Vans on the Strezlecki and Birdsville tracks etc. I learnt to drive on dirt roads around Cunnamulla and Charleville and dragged horse floats, trailers and even an old semi trailer around on the dirt out there so the towing and dust is not a concern, just how the van holds up.
