That's just insane.
Is it just me or is Snap On a bit overrated? I've seen quite a few sockets and spanners of theirs break.

I've seen a few break too, but you pay for the fact that they will replace it no questions asked (none of this 'if used within design parameters' rubbish that is attached to just about every warrenty these days)
Stick a 10mm 1/4 socket on a stepped down 3/4 drive 4m long breaker bar and if any of it lets go they'll just give you a new one.
-
He said he "collected" them from various sources over a couple of years. Is it just me or does that sound dodgy?
I wonder if they're hot?

Ive got the same tool chest and roll cab, it alone cost more than $10,000 empty! new from Snap on.
http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/tools.asp?tool=all&Group_ID=2294&store=australia
To buy all that here new in Aus you would be looking at well over $100,000, maybe some where near $120,000!
Must be hot, surely no-one needs that many tools!
I need to show my wife this and tell her my Snap On addiction isnt so bad after all ;D
-
You would need another shed just fo your tools!!
Reeks of stolen!! :police:
-

Actually I was thinking it was more indicative of a diagnosable mental condition, but his explanation seems sound to me - he bought a job lot from a workshop, kept the milling machines, and wants the space back in his own workshop.
What an insane collection of tools... he'd get more if he broke it up to invididual lots.
-
Im still drooling.
The tool box was £3500 on its own .The sockets alone there are 80 sets cost over £25,000 ,Spanners /wrenches lots of sets another £20,000 ,There is one screw driver set alone that cost best part of £500. there are many screw driver sets ,spring loaded socket rails x 60 cost £1800 on there own with no sockets .Rachet screw drivers x 25 plus cost with other bits £2000 plus, rachets x 80 all types from 1/4" to 3/4" well over £5000 plus I estimate this lot cost over £75,000
Converted to : $114023.45
-
My wife just caught me checking that lot out, I was in such a state she accused me of looking at porn >:D

From the eBay ad:
I HAVE COLLECTED THIS LOT OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS AND ONLY EVER USED A FEW SPANNERS
A LOT OF IT COME FROM SNAP ON DIRECT AND SOME OF IT FROM AEROPLANE ENGINEARS AND SOME OF IT EVEN COME FROM A FAMOUS RALLY CAR DRIVERS MECHANIC
Maybe he is a crazy thief.
-
That is awesome!!! I am totally speechless!!!
I doubt if this is stolen as I have a mate who worked for a tool company, in Brisbane, as a sales rep and even though he is totally inept at anything mechanical, he has one of the most comprehensive tool kits I have ever seen.
Not in the same league as this though. ;D

If you like status you will buy Snapon

The Snap On catalogue of Hand tools, power tools (air, cordless & electric), Tool storage, diagnostics, shop equipment etc is much more comprehensive and exceeds that of any other single tool manufacture - including Stahlwille.
Compare the Snap On catalogue to any other single tool manufacture and you'll see the innovation and designs the others are yet to manufacture / copy >:D
Stahlwille can copy Snap On's innovation, but cannot match there quality.

I have both, Its just my experiance.
You said you paid 10k for an empty set of tool draws? That seems a lot.

My son-in-law is amechanic and he swears by Snap on.
You pay for what you get.
I remember when I was young i used to buy 1 sidchrome spanner a pay and I was on $100 per week and some of spanners cost more than $20.00 each. I had them all untill a year or 2 ago when some low life stole my sons' Manaro with my tool bag in the boot (still not over that).
cheers Slip

-

Dunno, but the winner was determined to keep being infront (its important to be infront at the start right thru an auction for some people ???)- could have probably saved himself $20,000 by not bidding until the very end!
It went for -
GBP 33,950.00
Approximately AU $51,952.10

OMG was somebody compulsive obsessive. Mind you I did notice that it was missing the complimentry beverage holder with the chicky babe lolling over a motorcycle that snapon put out about twenty years ago that my husband has. He was interested in the snap on franchise and they gave him the cup as an incentive/gift and everyone comments on it. Cheers Norelle
-
To me buying Snapon, is like buying Toyota, you pay a lot for the badge.
-
So the new owner breaks them up into small lots, puts them back on Ebay and doubles his money :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup:
Cheers
