Today i used a maccoupler for the first time. Followed the instructions and it worked fine. I think it only fills the canister about 3/4 of new but its still heaps cheaper than using new ones each time.
-
Did you need to sit a course to use it?
-
I have a accreditation in maccoupler.
-
I've had one for a few years and used it a couple of times without any dramas.
Instructions are pretty clear.
Mine only filled to about 3/4's as well.
-
never knew these things existed until i read this thread,,, a quick google and a visit to ebay and should have one in the mail on it's way to me tomorrow. Thnx for sharing!

Whack the little bottle in the freezer for a couple of hours ,you should nearly fill it.
Does it have a purge valve to keep the pressure down?
-
Darren. There great aye. I've had one for years now and love the thing..
Guys, to get it full put the canisters in the fridge for 40 mins or so or in the esky. I guarantee you it will fill it up as good as new, if not even more. They also do not work so good when the 4 or 9kg is about a third full. But really try cooling the canister.
-
I had the canister in the fridge and the 9kg in the sun before i started. Im still happy with the result.
-
Is that a bottle from a Coleman Hot water system in the photo. If not will it fill one.
Could be next on the shopping list.

Oh, OK...And I thought it was my trick - damn you all 8) I like I can also fill my butane bottle that I have in the car for, one of those little gas welding kits.
-
Reminds me that I need to swap the empty 9kg bottle from the BBQ before inviting people over again...
Thanks!
Matto :)
(who, as usual, has nothing of value to add)

anyone buyin from AU or US from Th'Bay???
-
I thought they were illegal in Aus so you have t get them from the US
-
I got it of ebay from the US
Yes they are illegal. I got it hidden in the center of a shipment of cocane so no one would see it

even betterer :)
-
Yep, great bit of gear. Even made in the USA from memory.
-
Just order mine through Amazon for $14US. I ordered some other stuff at the same time so not sure how much freight would be.
Don't think they are illegal. Think you will find that it is turning the gas bottle upside down that is illegal.

I reckon if they were legal you would be able to buy them here, never found anywhere here where you can buy them.

Back in the day you could get disposable refrigerant bombs for non mainstream refrigerants.
We could re-use these the same way by decanting into a cold bottle. Until the rupture disc started to stretch, then it's a throw away. >:D
