Title: Hi from Toey
Post by: Toey on May 24, 2011, 09:35:18 PM
Hi all,

Been lurking here for a while.  I posted about us (wife, 14 year old boy, 13 year old girl)  upgrading from a late 70's/early 80s jayco, to a more recent model, but those plans have since fallen over.

We've been camping a few places.  Around Vic mostly.  Our biggest trip yet was a nightmare trip to Fraser Island.  On day one we had one cars radiator go and I blew my harmonic balancer just south of Forbes.  We got flooded off Fraser - yeah, I know, biggest sand island in the world and we camped on the only clay pan or something!  We almost lost the trailer in the middle of Brisbane peek hour traffic.    They are just the hightlights.

Every time we've camp, and I mean every time, it's rained.   Over summer at El Dorado, it was 42 one day and torrential rain the next.  In the last Easter trip it rained, but only on the drive up - but it still counts.

I'll post pics are soon as I get to the 15 post limit.

See ya out there!

You know we have friends like you. Every time we camp with them we get wet. Ah well, that's Victorian  camping for you.

Howdy Toey,
Sounds a bit like out first trip with our 2006 CUB. All excited heading for Waikerie, light drizzle while travelling, then warm sunshine when we arrived. With the stress of first ct setup plus the warm sun, it started a bit of an asthma (anxiety) attack. Whizzed up the road and bought a 240v box fan and about half an hour later it ppppp.....ed down and the wind whipped up, abviously a front moved thru. It only lasted about half hour then all was good.

OK, here's some pics.

Here's me having some fun at Toolangi, crossing the La Trobe river near Neeram.    Our set up last Easter.   And a blow out coming home from Mansfield about 2 years ago.  Just the far side of Boonie Doon with a big rig right up my clacker at the time of the blow out.  Interesting 15 seconds I can tell you that!

Welcome to Myswag Toey.

We camped for many years in a tent, and rarely did we ever have a wet camping trip.  Then we bought out camper, and have been battling with the rain gods ever since.

G'day & Welcome.

How interesting, we too have often had rain whilst camping, but thankfully never had it ruin a trip. We got about 5" of rain in an hour after we set up in Tweed Heads on our way to Fraser last year.

It was OK, we drank through it.  ;D
