Title: camping at Charleville or near
Post by: rossbarb on May 22, 2011, 11:21:39 AM
Hi Everyone,
We are heading off on a holiday first week in July and as usual I have been given the task of the organisation of it all. Was wondering if anyone can suggest somewhere to camp near Charleville, we have 2 campertrailers and our Topaz and we are self sufficient so don't need any facillities we are not over fussed with camping in caravan parks but will if we have to. So to anyone who replies thanks in advance for giving me some of your knowledge.
Barb

The spot on the Ward is perfect, make sure you take the turn off to the old Quilpie road towards the old bridge.  If you go over the new bridge you have gone too far.

There is also the Evening Star park which is a working station.  They have powered sites, grass and fires.  Check out www.eveningstar.com.au  it is about 8 kilometres out the Adavale road.  Or in town there is The Bailey bar caravan park and the Cobb and Co caravan Park.

The bailey bar has meals, Yabby Races and other entertainment  www.charlevillebaileybar.com.au

Enjoy Charleville but be aware that when you visit it will get cold over night, but the days are glorious.

This is handy for us as well, we will be heading through Charleville around the 25th June. So the Ward River site will suit us to.
