Hi I am along time reader but first time poster. We are finally heading off on a trip up through the middle and then around the west coast via the Gibb river road. Just wondering if anyone has been up that way and along the Gibb river road, if so any info on what to see and track conditions. We have a 2005 diesel pathfinder and an ultimate camper trailer. Haven't done a lot of river crossings so any info on what they are like on the Gibb would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Jump into the 'Trips, Tracks, Touring and Reports' section and search for Gibb River. Heaps of info.

+1.
From what I've heard of the Gibb (never been myself), the most important thing is REALLY good tyres, a patch kit that you know how to use, and a couple of spares. Other than that, I can't see a problem with taking the R51. Are you going by yourself, or in convoy?
Good luck - enjoy it!

My tip would be to drive to the conditions and enjoy.

Mate. Right now you can't do the Gibb end to end. You can only get onto it from Broome and then make it to Mt Barnet and even then there is hardly any diesel so you then need to get back. The road to Kalumbaru is closed also. Basically every Gorge except Windjana is closed and some may not open for a Month or so.
