Title: Murray River normal
Post by: Muso on May 17, 2011, 07:16:56 AM
Dashed up to Walker Flat (about 50 kms north of Mannum) for an o/nighter at their FREECamp on the w/end. Very good with absolute water frontage for about 6 rigs and perhaps another 6 on the high side of the road.

Apparantly the river stream has been slowed and things seem almost normal. Some of the lagoons are still flooded albeit only 1 or 2 inches, but would be too sloppy even for a Commodore

Conditions were mild/cool but very pleasant. Sunday morning was overcast with medium density cloud and by 8.30 my solar panels were maxing out at 14.3v. VERY shade tolerant panels. The sun didn't break thru until around midday.

The best photos I rotated the phone 90 degrees and I can't straighten them and load them here. Sorry, will remember next time.

Being a bit of a sailor I would guess the flowrate was about 3-4 knots, so to swim across (you'd have to be mad) you would end up about 45 degrees down stream. We went to Waikerie a couple of months ago (first trip in our Cub) and it would have been double that.
