The family wants to head to Bribie Island for the June Long Weekend, I checked out Bongaree Caravan Park on the www.
Question: What is Bongaree Caravan Park like...good and bad?
-
Have never stayed there but pass it regularly (in-laws live on Bribie). It's on a pretty busy road and almost on the passage, with only the road and some parkland between. It always looks busy / crowded. Bribie is a nice place, the passage is great for boating and the "surf" side, Woorrim is pretty nice too. Not much in the way of surf as Moreton Island is offshore from it.

Also look at woorim caravan park...other side ofisland.
bongaree is thecalmside good beach for young children ,close to clubs and shops. Across the road from the beach. The road is not that busy although I have not lived there for 8 yrs.
Woorim caravan park is not as close to the beach but is off main road. The beach is more open (as close to surf as possible) and they have surf club, pub and some shops

Good
seems to be kept in good order
close to boat ramp and shops
it's on the calm side of the island with nice esplande for morning walk
Bowls club next door
BAD
Very busy road just out front
Long way from the surf beach
Can get a little crowded
Not sure if this is a good or bad point
Seems to always have older people with vans and boats .
In short both are good but the woorim one is very very cramped on busy times ,like tent ropes crossed over cramped.
Hope that helps .

Have stayed there once, is a nice park, busy, but any park will be that time of year. Friends of ours were managing it but noe sure if they are still there or not, haven't spoken to them in a long time.

Interesting to see some reports as we are staying there at Xmas while visiting family. We tried to get into Woorim as I used to stay there when I was a kid but they didn't have any sites left that would accomodate a sidefold soft floor with 12ft tent. Bongaree were able to offer us a 10m x 10m site.

Overnighted there late last year - normal weekend but crowded and the size of the sites not siited for the average soft floor camper. Our side fold saw us getting to know the neighbours real well! Nice people but not entirely relaxing.

spent a week there last year the sites are a bit on the small size but the park is close to everything and the showers and toilets were okay johno 65 8)
