Title: Looking for a storage system
Post by: Paul Mac on May 05, 2011, 09:58:31 PM
Hi folks,

I drive an NS Pajero and live in the outer south eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

Looking for some local knowledge please.

I'm looking to install a 2 drawer and fridge slide into my vehicle and was wanting to find out where to go or where to look for pricing. As I'm a poor ol retiree price is somewhat of an issue. I've already looked at the Black Widow drawer system and at $2,050 without the fridge slide I think that is a tad expensive.

Can anyone provide some recommendations on where to go thanks.

Cheers

Macca

There's a dude on the Patrol forum who makes them, can't think of his name off the top of my head.

Have you looked at the Drifta drawers?

Thanks D4D,

Are you thinking of Jimmy Best ?

I should also mention that I'm looking for the drawer system to be made from metal rather than timber too.

I believe Jim constructs his drawers with timber.

Thanks again.

I can highly recommend Trek Tech: http://www.trektech.com.au/

Although based in Adelaide they will freight and it probably would still work out cheaper!

For my Pajero he did my storage shelf, cargo barrier, tilting fridge slide, and I am about to get a fridge cage made up by him -couldn't be happier!

Yeah Steve, I've met Jimmy a few times and had a look at his operations and I will also give his place a visit to see if he will do metal systems

Thanks also for the response.

Have you thought of making your own? You can use Kubelock (but dont use the plastic joins)

Hey Lost,

Do you happen to know where you can get the metal connectors? I've recently grabbed some the Qubelok stuff that Bunnings sell (at ridiculously inflated prices), and while the plastic connectors will be fine for what I'm using it for I'd like to grab some of the metal ones for a drawer system. The other option though, which I must admit I'm coming back towards, is just to weld up a steel frame. It'll be heavier than the alloy, but much easier and hopefully stronger.

Re: OffroadSystems - I've not bought anything from them, but when I last talked to them about drawers, water tanks and cargo barriers, they couldn't help me enough. I felt bad not going ahead with things at the time, simply because their service was so outstanding.

GG's Tanami drawers look pretty cool too!

Thanks!
Matto :)

Hi Matto,
The storage system, below, came out of a need to reduce the weight of my previous wooden box/draw setup.
Got this made to hold 4 boxes on top, 6 in the middle, and 2 long and 2 short on the bottom..
It is made in 3 parts..The fridge and lower level, the middle and top level, and the water tank/ cargo barrier behind. These all bolt to floor and each other.
I have put a couple of boxes in to show them loaded.

They are very basic and very light. The cargo barrier is part of the 75L tank. This setup is very strong, gone nearly everywhere..

Yep got them in my PJ originally in the Pathie then modded for the PJ at far less cost than a new system, mine is Aluminium/timber,

this year they went to the Melbourne Show, best part is they'll custom build within reason
