After stumbling across this site and getting lots of great info, I thought it might be time to say g'day.
I have a Jayco swan outback on order which should arrive by the last week of May.
Not too many sleeps to go..
We are looking to do a 10 week trip in early July with the family..
Thanks for the great info so far..

Gday Rob and welcome to Myswag
Not too far away mate.
What options did you go for and where are you heading for 10 weeks you lucky bugger?
cheers John

Got a 2010 Prado diesel as the tow buggy. Happy with it, with the exception of the centre back seat, which is a bit uncomfortable (we have 3 kids, and there are discussions as to who's turn it is to sit in the middle).
After much deliberation, the options for the Swan are:
Hws and external shower.
Additional water tank.
Additional gas bottle.
Extended drawbar.
100Ah battery.
Control panel for water and battery.
Hyland hitch.
Gas bayonet for BBQ.
Bed end flys and awnings (Alpine)
We are still considering a stone guard...

Some very Handy options  and what better tug than a D4D Prado :cup:
Make sure you get the payload upped from factory. By the time you fill both tanks with water there wont be much left

For our 10 week trip we are looking to going to the red center, up to Darwin and then to the Kimberleys.
We will then work our way down to Perth and probably a mad dash back home across the Nullabor.
We are having a great time planning the trip at present, and I am thinking that 10 weeks isn't enough!!!

Welcome to myswag! Did someone say D4D Prado :worthles:

Hi Rob
We did a similar trip to you in 2009 and took 12 weeks. We had a Swan Outback towed by a Pajero and had no problems. Went via the Oodnadatta Track to the Centre, up to Darwin and across the Gibb River Rd, West Coast and Nullabor home. Try for an extra couple of weeks if you can.

Picked up the swan a couple of weeks ago, and did a shakeout trip to Eildon.
Filled both water tanks and pretty much had a full load on the way up, and the Prado/Swan combo towed nicely...
The family had fun, and we started to get the hang of the Swan... Its a pretty comfortable setup really..
Went fishing for about 20 minutes out the back of the caravan park (Blue Gums CP), and came back with dinner, an added bonus, instead of bbq sausages.
Heres a photo of the fish, but cant seem to actually embed the image through tapatalk (iPad) only the link below..

Any ideas of how to get the photos from ipad into myswag?
Rob...

Well it actually worked, even though before i submitted it, it was just showing a link..

Nice brown, that water is flogged to death, well done :cup:

Thanks D4D.. Last time I was up at Thornton fishing would have been over 10 years ago, and you are right, the fishing even then was hard going.. I was pretty surprised to actually get anything out the back of the caravan park, even though the time was good (about 4 pm).
I am hoping the swan will give us good fishing luck as we travel north..
This forum has been a fantastic wealth of information for me (note the light in the photo, an idea from this forum that works like a treat)... Thanks ..
