Title: Aussie Swag water tank
Post by: Jim. on May 03, 2011, 06:33:06 PM
Hi all,

Does any one besides me have any problems filling their AS water tanks? ours has a twin tank setup of around 120lt capacity, however filling through the filler or even attaching a garden hose to the feed tap, I can only squeeze around 40lt in ???

I hope someone can help.

Regards to all Jim & Kerrie

Common problem on a lot of campers, blocked top vent, filler in the wrong spot etc. I plan to modify my drain plug with a tap connector so I can fill from the bottom of the tank rather than the top.

Hi Jim and Kerrie,

I fill mine up by the water filler using a water jerrycan which is a slow process as there is alot of gurgling but I can certainly fill it up to the brim.

One of the things I used to do with my previous camper was shove the hose as far down the chute as I could get it and this solved the same problem as what you had.

What year is your AS as I only have the one tank which is 130lt capacity?

Hi Jim & Kerrie,

We too have an AS and we love it!!

When I fill our 130L tank, I use the lower tap on the mudflap.  It has a hose connection for just this purpose.  Sometimes I do get an airlock, so I wind the jockey wheel down to the ground and give the camper a good shake ... which usually solves the airlock.  We always leave home with it full.  You never know when you could get stuck somewhere and need the extra drinking water.

I have a similar problem where the inlet is combined with the air outlet and when water is put in they are both blocked. I have fitted a tap to the outlet in the bottom of the tank, remove the filler cap and then fill it from the bottom until water comes out the filler point.

Same problem for us with our pioneer. I just trickle feed it. Slow and a little frustrating, but does the job.

Hi all,

Thanks to all that have responded, I now have an idea of how others tackled the same problem.

Regards to all, Jim & Kerrie.
