Title: Lake Glenbawn - Easter
Post by: xvprado on April 21, 2011, 08:29:34 PM
Gday all

Last minute decision to get away for easter, anyone got experience with Lake Glenbawn...any good ?
Is it likely to be wall to wall bogans, or just wall to wall people
We dont want power or anything, just a quiet corner

Any advice would be appreciated

Ta

Glen

I'd say good luck finding a quiet corner (mostly wall to wall people), but wherever you go this weekend is going to be very busy.

Worst part about Glenbawn is finding a level site to set up on.

Lake Glenbawn is a great place to go, there will be a lot of people there but I wouldn't say wall to wall. We spent 2 weeks there in January and at the most was about 200 people spread over a very large area. Most of the bogans go to the far camping ground well away from everyone else. We camped just below the kiosk and while there was quite a few people there they were very friendly and very well behaved. And the fishing is very good.

Glenbawn will be busy but you should find somewhere. Theres a few good areas and one you might get lucky with is called Wilga I think, wilga proper is a flat area that has a large ring of trees, that will be full but if you go just past the trees theres a flat section next to the road. If you want to be near the water you should find somewhere but it wont be flat.

We took our camper up to Glenbawn on its maiden voyage as it is only 20mins from home we normally stay at wilga camp area as it is nice and large for our 2 1/2 year old to wear himself out.
This was about a month after easter and had the place to ourselves whilst we were there I got chatting to one of the park guys doing some road maintenance he was telling me they had over 5000 people in the place for the easter long weekend and was about to crack skulls, just very frustrating trying to get people to do the right thing and follow park rules and have some consideration for others the stress this creates wasn't in his job description.
We avoid Glenbawn like the plague on any long weekend for these reasons alone too many idiots that don't give a rats a@#e for anyone except themselves.
