Bit of a storm hanging around at the moment so we are testing the waterproofing.

Mid North Coast at Easter - be ready for rain.

Sounds like Speewa has heard about the rurmour that the Jayco owners are going to form a wagon circle around his camper and he is going to have the sun blocked out when they go camping with him seeing the numbers are growing.

Not a lot yet.

Batteries next week when I pick them up, want to put 275/70R16s on it as well (same as L/C)

Already thinking of 12V water. Probably a stone guard. 2nd gas bottle and maybe additional jerry can holder(s)

Bit early yet for too much thinking of such things ............

I read somewhere they had to do this as the 3m doesn't fit...

I will actually be taking this up with the dealer, the smaller size with the OB reduces the effectiveness of the awning considerably (IMO).

Just been over the unit and wired up ready for the batteries next week, there are a number of quality and design issues I also intend to discuss with the dealer eg on the front bed, where it is obvious the seat will be used as a step, under cushion boards used are very thin  ply and to make it interesting the hinges are pop rivetted with pops that do not go thru the ply, 2 hinges tore out first time I sat on it.

Only minor stuff irritating.

They can't put the 3m Fiamma awning on the new roof design. That is one of the reasons we decided against the Fiamma and went with the standard Jayco bagged awning.

Hi Geoffwin, re the Fiamma awning we have an OB Hawk on order, due for delivery late May.  We had ordered it with the Fiamma awning, while waiting we saw a pic in a camper trailer mag with the 2011 Outback and the smaller awning.  After checking the Jayco order sheet with a Fiamma code of 2.5 and then comparing with an 2010 outback owner we found out about the change in size.  We raised this with the local dealer, they agreed it's too small and allowed us to cancel the Fiamma awning.  They mentioned a new Carefree awning was already under negotiation / planning that will be a better fit.  You may want to mention this to your dealer.  I'm interested to hear how you go and if there is any time line with the new carefree awning.

PS; Your Eagle looks awesome!  Cheers, Macca.

Thanks Travin and Macca

When buying I was going off the 2010 model and the size of the awning, admittedly I never asked the question on size and assumed (incorrectly it seems) that the awning would be pretty much the roof length. There was no discussion on changes.

I have just had another look at the online 2011 brochure and it (I think) shows a 2010 model with a longer awning - this was the only reference I had to how the awning would look.

The awning itself comes with "Fiamma 45" written on it but it is written on the order as fiamma 2.5

It was a toss up between the Fiamma and the bag awning or an after market awning but I went for convenience.

I will defintiely take it up with the dealer.

Geoff
