Title: Aqua Cube Series II
Post by: griz066 on April 18, 2011, 05:48:44 PM
After reading all the threads here on camp showers I have bought the Aqua Cube, set it up this arvo and Darling is very impressed indeed. The main reason in my choice was no battery to go flat for infrequent users, uses my existing pol gas cylinder already fitted to CT and comes in a spiffy carry bag to pack in the CT or ute. Hope to try it out over easter. Uses 3.6 ltrs a minute no matter which setting you have the rose on, so a 5 min shower for 20 ltrs I can deal with that. Darling will probably use 40 ltrs ;D ;D

That's great Griz. We've gotta keep the "Lovely Ones" happy.

We find with ours that if we shut the water off while soaping up, we can get both of us showered (one at a time, mind) from 1x20 ltr bucket. But, if you've got a good water supply, then go for it...........

Cheers,
Geoff

I must have had 2 leamons, original one supplied with the CT and a replacement both underperformed in the "Hot Water" department.

Glad you go a good one Griz

Having used our Series 2 for the first time yesterday at an actual campsite I can say I'm very impressed. Had to turn the temp down on it as it was too hot.

Perhaps not hot enough for a cup of tea - although possibly close. Was hot enough that it could scold a child.

We've ours setup in a shower tent away from the CT so not real handy if you need it to make a cuppa. For that we use the stove.

We do exactly the same thing with our series II. Without washing long hair, just a quick soap up and rinse off, the two of us can shower in ~ 15ltrs. The only criticisms I have are that the pump can't fit through the 'mouth' of a 20lt jerry can - that would be so much more convenient than tipping the water into a bucket, and if it's really windy, the HWS can blow out, then re-ignites so you get a refreshingly cool blast for a few secs.

But otherwise we are really happy with the water temp, pressure and convenience.

Stozz, we have the pump permanently mounted into the bottom of the 20L Jerry - sticks out a bit and you need to have the "this side up" wording on top. Otherwise Coleman have "soft" 20L containers that will fit the pump - they are an extra for their HWOD units. Not sure how much they retail for.

Thanks Hem - we might try that.  Although we generally take a few jerry cans with us and once one runs out we would have to refill from another so might as well pour into the bucket - will have to think about it.
We actually bought the "compatible" soft container but that the lid/cap wasnt compatible either!!  We contacted Companion with some feedback but they never responded.  The Driver did some simple mods to it to make it fit but in the end we haven't been using it.  Will give it another go next trip.

Have you got a pic of how you mounted yours?

Stozz, no pics but it looks like the pump fits into the Jerry where the normal tap goes - not sure if it has the same thread on it or not. It looks a bit bigger than the standard tap so it would be easy to tap out a new thread.

It might be worth a call to ModCon who fitted ours - talk to Kerry, he will know the ins & outs of it as the Cube was fitted on many of their CT's until they changed to diesel HWS.
