Title: Hi from Barooga
Post by: micksgoincampin on February 13, 2011, 08:38:16 PM
Just thought I would join this forum after all the useful info I was getting out of it whilst looking to get my first camper trailer.  As a result of what people here as well as a couple of friends from work said,    my wife and I bought a CT from Mountain Trail Campers at the Albury 4WD and camping show today. It is a escape extended off road model.

WE are looking forward to many hols with our 2 kids aged 3 & 1.

Welcome to myswag and congrats on the Mountain Trail. GURich has a very well worn Mountain Trail and it has held up very well. They are a great looking camper.

G'Day Mick,

The first wait is for the delivery,  every sunny day you will be cursing the wait.  The second wait is the time between delivery and the first outing, if you are like me then you will curse every working day.  Much to my relief my second wait (first outing) occurs this weekend.  It's sorta like waiting for the birth, then having to wait for the first steps/words etc.  None the less it's all worth it.  Welcome to the site, I know I've learnt alot from this site, hope you do as well!

thanks Mark

Yes the first wait is already aggonising, only 5 weeks to go.  As for the second wait that shouldnt be a problem. As I live right on the banks of the Murray River I plan on taking my new CT straight to a beach near my house for a test run. The family and I will stay overnight but will be only 5 mins from home so if we have any problems or forget stuff we wont have far to go .

Hi, welcome to MySwag.  Heaps of great places to camp along the river.  Camping close to home would be good for your first outing.  We sometimes camp along the Murray only a few Km from home but we may as well be a world away, just good top be camping.

There was on time though when we had visitors come camping with us and we camped only a few Km from home...  Never again!  They wanted to go home to our place to use the shower, they saved their dishes so they could take them home to our place to use the dishwasher, they saved up number twos so go back to our place to use the toilet!

G'day Mick.

Congrats on the new camper.

You goin' to Paradise Beach?

We get in there most years at Christmas and other times.

What do you do in Barooga?

Hi deepop,

Yes I will either go to paradise beach or wattle tree beach for our test run. Hopefully the river will go down a bit by the time I get the CT. I take it you wouldnt of made it this year due to the flooding

The river has come up a heap here over the last couple of days, up to probably minor flood level.  From what I have heard they need to start releasing from the weir as they don't have room to cope with any more rain events and they are expecting more inflows.

Hi Fivid,

well i guess that means I wont get my ski boat out on the water shortly as the cobram boat ramp and most other ascess points are already under water, and the roads to them are closed.

As for your previous post about camping near home , yes i have made that mistake to but by the sounds of it my experience wasnt quite as bad as yours.
