Hi Guys & Girls
I am planning to go to Wooli this Sat 15/1/11, camping at the Solitary island resort. I have never been to Wooli and given the current weather situation is there any thing I should be looking out for. Any info would be appreciated.
If anyone is in the area call in and say hello, I will be on a en-suite site( gold Hyundai terracan, making tracks camper trailer and three screaming kids), look forward to meeting fellow campers.

was up there when all this rain started and came back with nothing but dust on my back window ???
even Bocshes was normal depth.

With major flooding predicted, I would be checking that roads are open before leaving.
The Clarence Valley Council [can't recall the web address] has a great site & shows the status of local roads. RTA site will have the status of the Pacific Hwy.

I think the Clarence river at Mororo and Hawood might be your problem. I left work early today at Grafton so I wasnt spending a few days there. Yamba will get cut off this arvo for sure.

Ati, looks like it may need to be postponed. But I think it is really important to appreciate the difficulties experienced by small business owners when these natural disasters occur. If you can get safely through and have a great time when you get there it is great to support these businesses by buying a few days on one of their sites.
Having seen our local caravan park evacuated yesterday, all their onsite vans dragged to higher ground (with awnings and annexes just hanging down), all the effort of their staff and locals and the rural firies, and then having to reverse it all, I hope the sun comes out, the river clears quickly and they are booked out for February, March, easter and the rest of the year.

I hope you are coping in Brisbane with the flooding...not nice..we have relatives in Toowong...but that's a different story.
I'm sorry to say, Pacific Highway has been closed at south at Ulmarra, Hardwood /Yamba...expecting at least 48hrs for Clarence river to start going down significantly to allow traffic.
People are being stopped at Ballina and diverted to Casino...even then can't they can't go south anyway due to floods in South Grafton area...and places along the Summerland Highway.
The route to Wooli from the Pacific Hwy will be a no go zone through the Pillar Valley..road damage.
Best thing to do, stay put.....ring Wooli Sanctuary and delay the trip for about 2 weeks

I would suggest having a look at Woody Head or Iluka. I couldnt get out of Yamba today but had family arriving at Ballina for a funeral in Yamba tomorrow. Boat over to Iluka, borrowed a friends car, drove to Ballina and picked up the relos, drove back to Iluka then boat home. IMO you would easily get to Iluka on the weekend. Esk river on the Iluka rd was about 0.5m from flooding and Richmond river was about the same. At Mororo there was about a foot over the road but harwood would be worse. By Saturday Pacific Hwy will be ok to the Iluka turnoff for sure.
Clarence is in a bad way though and god ony knows what would be happening if it was a full moon and we had the king tides competing with the flood at the mouth. Down here we have a 0.5m low tide that actually measures about 1.6. River is only 1.1m higher down at the mouth but my god there is some water going out the mouth. If it was say 2 weeks ago where there were 1.8m high tides it could be ugly. Hope everyone further up the river is ok.... ??? ???
