Hi
Does anyone own/has owned or know about the Trailblaza fridge/freezers made by Norcoast Refridgeration in Caloundra?
Or should I just go with the 70 litre Evakool Fridgemate that I had decided on before I saw the ad for the Trailblaza, Waeco and Engel are not suitable due to size restrictions.

I owned a 60 ltr Trailblazer for many years, and would say they are one of the most robust fridges on the market. We had a couple of small issues with the 240-12volt power pack, however these issues were always rectified quickly by contacting Norcoast.
I would still own mine today if I had of had room to carry it in the back of the Patrol. I sold mine to SUPA105 another forum member, and last time I heard from him it was still going strong.
I have other friends who have had Trailblazers, and all have been more than happy with their fridges.
I can't recommend them highly enough.

I fully agree with Gunna Doo in regards to the Trailblazer fridge/freezer.I have owned a 60 litre for 15 years and in that time it has performed well in normal to extreme conditions. The service from norcast is second to none.I would recomend them to anyone. After all they supply to the army and the UN. :cup:

We had one of their fridges for a few years and only sold it when our camping equipment was restructured ie, we bought a camper. Ours was a custom build 60lt with temp / volt gauges and 4in insulation, once that thing was cold it would be ages between on/off cycles because the insulation was so good. It would go as low as -18 and hold it all day. All of their fridges have a serial number inside the motor compartment, this number is logged at the factory and lists the build date and all of the various componets used in the build, if you have a problem anywhere in the country they can look up the specs and send you the correct part for your fridge.
They are a big fridge but if you have the room they are well built and super strong, all their fridges are tested in an oven before you are allowed to pick them up, each fridge has to hold 0 in an oven temp of 40c.
We never had any issues with ours and would buy one again if we had the room.
Cheers

I've heard nothing but good things about them. The Man is considering a purchase but we need a size that'll suit our fridge slide and they are either way too small or way too large. We did visit their "shop" at Caloundra, and I guess they aren't spending the $ earned on a showroom or landscaping ... just an overgrown block with a big shed in it ... and they weren't open alas.

Those things are built like a tank and last a lifetime, I wanted one, but with Kev's money I bought a Bushman, I'm not complaining, but a Trailblaza would have been nice, stretching the extra $500,for a 42ltr, the bank manager would'nt come to that.

As Gunna Do stated I bought his as he no longer had the room, Best 2nd hand purchase ever made......
Trailblaza lives outside the camper on the draw bar (cant do that with many other fridges) and has performed without fault.....when not out and about in runs 24/7 as the beer fridge in the shed on 240volt. Not as "pretty" as many other fridges but its agricultrual and robust nature is what makes it brilliant.

Mate has a 70, beauty but a big arse bit of gear.
He uses a piece of masonite and the bottom becomes a freezer and the top a fridge. Apparently the cooling coils are closer at the bottom.
Have you had a look at the luna's?

the 74 double door looks like a cracker

Hi
We have had a Trailblaza 60lt for about 4 years now and love it, :-*, we had a couple of other brands but they just could not cope with the heat and humidity in the NT, and after loosing $200 of cryovaced meat on the Gibb river rd we wanted the best.
They are a big fridge for there capacity, but that is because of the amount of insulation in them
the 60lt is going into our Aussieswag (being built at the moment, we are having the fridge box made to suit the 60lt), and we will buy a @ 30lt trailblaza to go in the back of the NAV as a drinks/day fridge.
we wouldn't buy anything but a trailblaza, i know no matter what the conditions, when i open the fridge the beer is ice cold and all is good with the world

We have a 60 litre Trailblaza, bought it about 1992 and still going strong today. Has never given us a problem and at present is being used as a freezer with all the family back home and needing the extra freezer space.
The only draw back as susch is the size of the unit and that is only due to the insulation of the unit. Compared to other units to look at it you would guess it to be at least a 100 litre unit lift the lid and it's only a 60 litre unit, which when full is a heavy. Saying that there are two solid handles either end so at best four people (one each corner) can easily carry it. Empty I can carry it myself, full I get my son to help.

If I had to buy again would be my no.1 choice of fridge.......the only limitation is the size....but with so many options of dimensions, I'm sure you could find one that would suit..

how do these cmpare tothe National Luna?
-
We have the 100lt trailblazer which is great I can only compare them to the 80lt waeco

Does anyone know if this business is still running??
I've sent a few emails but had no response??
Anyone purchased one lately?
-
they are some what "old School" so a quick response by email may not happen?
in saying that, I would just call them on the "Dog N bone"
I have not heard if they have closed?
cheers

I sent an email and before you know it I recieved info on all their gear. I am looking at a ute Trailblaza as this will only fit in the back of the cruiser. It won't fit in the Aussie Swag. Can't wait.
-
If you give trailblazer the dimension of the available space them will make a fridge to fit. They for a mate of mine to fit in his mountain trail camper.

As good as, but cheaper. Bloody good fridge, we have a 60ltr & is a great bit of kit. Pretty economical to run as well.

Trailblazer fridges, greatest thing since sliced bread. I have had my 80ltr for 23 years my father and brother have had theirs ( 60 and a 70 ltr) longer than that. Yes they do take up a bit of room but the work, always a cold beer when you want one or three. :cup:

I've had my eye on a 60 with 5" foam. Just trying to come to terms with the price once you add on a few of the accessories. Still, I like to try and "buy once, cry once" when I buy things like this as it'll last me for years, so I can't see myself skimping out and buying something else.
